Голландия первая официально выбрала участника Евровидения 2009. Еще 19 сентября 2008 г. было решено, что мужское трио из 80-х De Toppers (48-летний Герард Йолинг, 40-летний Гордон и 47-летний Рене Фрогер) поедет на конкурс в Москву. Недавно была выбрана песня для концерта - Shine…
В качестве группы поддержки у ветеранов из Голландии на сцене подпевает компания очаровательных толстушек:
В 2005 году популярные голландские певцы Герард Джолинг, Рене Фрогер и Гордон решили создать юмористическую концертную группу, дав ей название De Toppers. Первое появление Топперов состоялось во время концерта Фрогера в 2004 году в Амстердамской Арене.
За последние месяцы De Toppers потряс скандал - произошел конфликт и один из участников, несмотря на сильное желание побывать на Евровидении, покинул группу. Пришлось срочно искать замену. Возможно, изменение состава повлияет на их выступление.
Опыт у De Toppers есть. Герард Джолинг участвовал в Евровидении 1998 года и занял девятое место, а Гордон побывал, правда, только на отборах 1990 и 2003 года.
